LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 2024 Winners Announced!

LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 is an exclusive industry recognition that celebrates 40 outstanding professionals aged 40 or younger who exhibit tremendous potential for growth and a strong motivation to drive the development of the legal sector forward.

Eligibility

- Aged 40 years old or under (born on/after 1 January 1984)
- Individuals in the legal industry, including but not limited to: (1) Lawyers, solicitors, barristers, attorneys, paralegals; (2) Corporate counsel; (3) Legal technologists; (4) Law librarians; (5) Legal content producers, publishers, journalists, editors; (6) Legal academics (professors, researchers, lecturers, post-doc fellows, etc.)
- Based in Asia
- No restrictions on ethnic background, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or any other factors unless otherwise specified
- Self-nominations and nominations of others are both encouraged.

Who and How to Judge?

Judging panel
A panel of esteemed judges consisting of senior lawyers, senior legal technologists, business leaders, senior legal counsel, and other senior legal professionals will carefully and independently evaluate the nominations, and select the 40 most promising young professional talents for the LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 Asia and local lists.

The judges cannot review nominations where a conflict of interest may exist.

Judging criteria
The judges will rate each nomination based on several elements, including but not limited to: 

- The nominees’ past accomplishments
- The nominees’ leadership and/or project management skills
- The nominees’ positive impact on the development of the legal industry 

The 40 nominees with the highest average ratings will be selected for the local and/or Asia list(s).

 

How to Nominate

Nominations are submitted using the simple online nomination form. The nomination form may be completed in a language other than English, should the candidate wish to do so. Entries in any language other than English will be translated to English by way of an AI-powered LLM console. 

Nominees are also invited to select between the Local List, Asia List, or Local and Asia List, depending on the level of publicity they would find most beneficial, should they be among the top 40 scorers of their chosen cohort.  

The nomination period is 26 August 2024 to 23 September 2024.

The fee structure is as follows: 

- Local List Only: US$200
- Asia List Only: US$200
- Local and Asia List: US$300

The entry fee is non-refundable, and does not guarantee selection for any award. Each nominee will also receive a local LexisNexis eStore voucher valued at US$50 as a token of appreciation for their time and participation.

How to Pay the Nomination Fee

All entries must be accompanied by payment of the entry fee to complete the nomination process:
Step 1. Complete the payment with the nominator's email address according to respective region:

Step 2. Screen-capture the payment end page for your own record.

About
LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 is an exclusive industry recognition that selects 40 professionals who are 40 years old or younger and show tremendous potential to grow and motivation to lead the development of the legal sector in his/her/their respective region. Likewise, LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 Asia is an exclusive industry recognition that celebrates young legal professionals leading the way in an increasingly boundaryless business environment, more specifically throughout Asia.

The LexisNexis® UNDER 40 award (“Local Award”) and LexisNexis® 40 UNDER 40 Asia award (“Asia Award”)  will be governed by the terms and conditions herein. By submitting a nomination, you agree to comply with and be bound by the same.

1. The nominee must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Awards:
1.1 The nominee is aged 40 or under in the year 2024(i.e., born on or after 1 January 1984);
1.2 The nominee is an individual in the following field(s) (“Professional”): Lawyers, Solicitors, Barristers, Attorneys, Legal Counsels, Paralegals, Legal Technologists, Law Librarians, Legal Content Producers, including but not limited to Publishers, journalists and editors, or Legal Academics.
1.3 A non-refundable nomination fee is paid by you to LN (via our online portal for Greater China [link], Malaysia [link], or Singapore [link]) as follows:
(a) Local Award Only: USD200
(b) Asia Award Only: USD200
(c) Local and Asia Award: USD300

2. All nomination entries must be submitted in accordance with the following:
2.1 Nominations must be submitted using the nomination form online at the following link, including all supporting materials. Any digital supporting material submitted via the aforesaid online portal may take a variety of formats (pdf/powerpoint/jpeg, etc.) and must together not exceed the maximum upload limit of 20MB per nomination entry.
2.2 Nominations must be submitted by the entry deadline, i.e., on or before 23 September 2024, 12:00 am (GMT +8). You will receive a confirmation email upon successful completion of a submission.
2.3 Nominations will not be accepted nor considered unless it contains the Nominee’s contact details, including but not limited to his/her/their business email address.
2.4 Where a nomination submitted on behalf of a third party, you hereby undertake and confirm that you have the said third party’s consent to make such application and agree that we may disclose your details (i.e., the applicant who/which made the nomination) to the nominee.
2.5 In the event that a nomination is submitted in a language other than English, LN reserves the right to translate the nomination and supporting materials into English for evaluation purposes and shall not be held responsible for any inaccuracies or errors that may arise from the translation process. You and/or the Nominee acknowledge and agree that the translated version of the nomination and materials may not fully or accurately reflect the original content, and LN shall not be liable for any consequences resulting from such inaccuracies or errors.
 
3. By submitting the nomination, you and/or the Nominee:
3.1 Hereby undertake and confirm that any information and supporting materials provided to LN and the Judges for the Award(s) are true, accurate and do not contain any confidential, proprietary, or otherwise legally protected information belonging to any third party. You and/or the Nominee further represent and warrant that the submission of such information and materials do not violate any applicable laws, regulations or contractual obligations.
3.2 Agree to indemnify LN and its affiliates against any and/or all losses arising from your submission in relation to the Awards.
3.3 Where applicable, agree to LN’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy (“General Terms”). Should there be any inconsistency or conflict between the General Terms and the terms and conditions herein, the terms and conditions herein shall prevail.

4. Where a nominee is successful, he/she/they will be mentioned on LN’s website. As winners’ entitlements, such nominees will also be entitled to purchase the following at his/her/their sole discretion:
4.1 Option A: USD700, which includes a trophy and publicity via LN’s channels.
4.2 Option B: USD1,000, which includes Option A, and one ticket to an award ceremony to be hosted by LN in Hong Kong in November 2024.
4.3 Where the Nominee is awarded a Local Award, he/she/they will be entitled to publicity via the corresponding local channel.
4.4 Where the Nominee is awarded the Asia Award, he/she/they will be entitled to publicity via LN Channels in Greater China, Malaysia, and Singapore.
4.5 “Publicity” hereinabove refers to promotional or publicity campaigns by LN, which shall be operated by LN at its sole discretion.
4.6 “Channels” hereinabove refers to LN’s promotional and publicity channels, which shall include but is not limited to LN’s website and social media platforms.
4.7 By purchasing any of the above winner’s packages, the Nominee grants LN the rights necessary to publicise and promote the Nominee’s achievement as the Award winner through such relevant channels.

5. In the event of any dispute, the decision of LN shall be final.
